Kiermaier’s injury occurred as he was laying out for James McCann’s bloop single in the fifth inning. As he landed, Kiermaier rolled over with his left arm pinned underneath. He immediately grimaced in pain on the ground before getting up and running toward the dugout for help from a trainer.

Kiermaier’s injury could be brutal to the Rays, who are also without second baseman Logan Forsythe (shoulder blade fracture) for at least the next two weeks. Kiermaier entered Saturday’s game ranked third in defensive WAR and defensive runs saved in MLB.
