Loney sustained the injury sliding into third base on a steal in the eighth inning of Sunday’s 7-2 loss to the Athletics. It was initially diagnosed as a sprain, but further examination revealed the break. Loney is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to the Tampa Bay Tribune.

In the meantime, the Rays have recalled infielder Tim Beckham and infielder-outfielder Jake Elmore from Triple-A Durham.

Loney, 31, has hit .275/.322/.376 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 109 at-bats this season.
