On Tuesday morning, Lewis took to Twitter and Facebook to spread his gospel of goodwill as the city tries to recover from Monday night’s rioting following the funeral of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who died after suffering a spinal injury while in police custody.

He also posted a video message to Facebook, pleading with the people of Baltimore to end the violence.

Regardless of your personal opinion of Lewis, there are few people, if any at all, that can connect to the people of Baltimore like Lewis can, which is why his message is needed.
